দ্বিমাসিক পত্রিকা রূপে এক বছর ধরে ছ’টি সংখ্যা প্রকাশের পর, দ্বিতীয় বর্ষের দ্বিতীয় বিশেষ সংখ্যার প্রকাশ ঘটেছে ‘নবরস’ পত্রিকার। যদিও সে-ই প্রকাশে আনন্দযাপনের পরিবর্তে বিধূরতারই ছায়া, কেননা অকালপ্রয়াত লেখক শমিত মিত্রের স্মরণসংখ্যা এটি। মাত্র ৪৪ বছর বয়সে শমিত আমাদের ছেড়ে চলে গিয়েছেন, রেখে গিয়েছেন  তাঁর ছ’টি কাব্যগ্রন্থ এবং নিজের কর্মের পরিসর ‘নবরস’ শিল্পকেন্দ্র, যে প্রতিষ্ঠানের দুই প্রতিষ্ঠাতা কর্ণধারের একজন তিনি। এই সংখ্যায় রয়েছে তাঁর নির্বাচিত কবিতা, অগ্রন্থিত কবিতা, অপ্রকাশিত ডায়েরির সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাঁর নিকটজনদের স্মৃতিচারণা। লেখকের ভাবনায় এবং কৃষ্ণেন্দু চাকীর শিল্পনির্দেশনায় মুখচ্ছবিটি এমনতর হলেও, ‘নবরস’ কি আদৌ কোনো পত্রিকা? না, এর গঠন কাঠামোয় পত্রিকার রূপ, কিন্তু আদপে এটি একটি উপন্যাস,  লেখক সৌরভ দে-র প্রথম উপন্যাস। নিরীক্ষার নতুন ছন্দে এমন আখ্যানের জন্ম বাংলায় এই প্রথম। পাঠক এর সাহিত্যরসের মূল্য নির্ধারণ করবেন কিন্তু আপাতত আঙ্গিকের আঙিনায় নতুন রসে সিঞ্চিত এই উপন্যাস পাঠকের নিবিড় অভিনিবেশ দাবি করে।

After the publication of six issues as a bi-monthly for a year, on the second year, the second special issue of the magazine, ‘Nabaras’ was brought out. Although, instead of delight and elation this issue casts a shadow of melancholy for it is the memorial issue of the author, Samit Mitra, who died an untimely death. Only at the young age of forty four, he departed and left for us his six books of poems as well as his own work-space, ‘Nabaras’, center for art, of which he was one of the two founder executives. This issue consists of his selected poems and poems yet to be published, his unpublished diary alongwith the reminiscences penned by his near and dear ones. Is ‘Nabaras’ at all a magazine though it looks like one because of the concept of the author and the creative direction of Krishnendu Chaki. No, structurally it may look like a magazine, but in reality, it is a novel, the first novel of the author, Sourav Dey. Written in a novel spirit of experimentation, such a narrative is absolutely unique in Bengali literature. It is upto the readers to determine its literary quality, but in the domain of form and structure of Bengali novels its originality may demand an undivided attention of the reader.
