The years 1979-1982 are mentioned as the time- period of this sketchbook, all the works it contains came into existence in Delhi. Then the artist was professionally associated with the Rastrapati Bhawan. The works contained in this sketchbook are clearly indicative of that particular phase of his life. During this period, the artist started nurturing the seeds of his ‘beaurocrat’ ideas which remained as layouts done in pencil, pen or charcoal in this sketchbook. In a part of this sketchbook, he wrote, ‘When I live I do wish my friends to be more human than artists. I do not care how good artists they are or not but I surely like to find them more human. ‘Many a work of this sketchbook later transformed into some significant paintings.
