This is one of the earliest sketchbook of the artist. The strokes and lines on the pages of the same manifest a keen search of an artistic mind. Among many a countenance, the faces of three vocalists that appear in this book – namely, Santidev Ghosh, Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and Suchitra Mitra along with their signatures seems to transmit a kind of pleasantness in the mind of the art enthusiasts. He was still a student of the Government Art College then. Having been confined in his familial sphere, the young Jogen was yet to know what unexpected the future had kept in store for his oncoming life as an artist. This sketchbook may boast of a portrait of Rabindranath which one is perhaps the very first portrait of Kaviguru done by the artist.
