In the history of modern Indian painting, Sanat Kar secured his authority as an inventor. He played a pioneering role in the field of wood and cardboard intaglio; simultaneously he paved the way for sun mica engraving. Besides, his uniqueness found expression through various mediums like oil painting, tempera, pastel and so on. Through different phases of his life, his works went through transformation, he opted for newer ways; his world of art had been expanded not only through his experimentation with medium and method but also through depth of his themes. From the imagery of repeated resurfacing even after death because of an impulse ‘to reappear once again being driven by an urge [‘Abar jodi iccha karo abar asi phire’] along with the Padabali literature, the land of subconscious and life and death to the flight of fantasy from the world of fairy tale and his depiction of male and female countenance and their expression as well on the surface of the fallen leaves while gliding down back on the earth, endowed the art connoisseurs with a wonder world. Since 2017, Debovasha, abode of book and art set off on its journey with an exhibition of his paintings. Later, during his life time, on each of his birthday, i.e. 29th of July, a number of his paintings were exhibited along with publication of his written works. He was one of our principal guardians and we immensely cherished his warmest affection.
