যে কোনো সৃজনশীল মানুষের আজীবনের সংগ্রাম নিজস্ব ভাষা খুঁজে পাওয়া, সেই নিজস্ব চিত্রভাষা লাভের অভিপ্রায় থেকেই চিত্রজীবনের সূচনায় প্যারিস থেকে ফিরে কিছুদিন রঙ রেখার থেকে সামান্য তফাতে থেকে অক্ষরের আশ্রয়প্রার্থী হয়েছিলেন তিনি, লিখেছিলেন এক দীর্ঘ প্রবন্ধ, ‘কী আঁকছি কেন আঁকছি’,যা ছিল শিল্পীর নিজের সঙ্গে বোঝাপড়ার এক তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ দলিল। এক দীর্ঘ জীবনের বিভিন্ন বাঁকে নবতর দৃশ্যকল্পে উদভাসিত হয়েছে তাঁর চিত্রভুবন, কিন্তু তারই মাঝে বহে চলেছে নিজস্ব ভাষা। যোগেন চৌধুরীর সাম্প্রতিক ছবির এই সংকলনটিও তারই স্মারক।

When the life long struggle of a creative self finds its own language, then to realize his own pictorial language, Jogen Chowdhury stayed away from his colours and strokes at the outset of his life of art after he returned from Paris and took refuge in words and penned a long essay, ‘ What am I drawing and why?'(Ki ankchhi, keno ankchhi?) The essay served as a significant document of the artist’s understanding with his own self. At every nook and corner of his ling life, his world of art has often been exposed through newer imageries and his own pictorial language kept on flowing through them. The recent collection of paintings of Jogen Chowdhury performs as a souvenir of his prolonged journey.
