Tempera on Etching

In the realm of Bengal art, the work of Atin Basak does not need any formal Introduction for someone who genuinely appreciates art. This identification may have been the resultant effect of his artistic expertise and the role played by his private thematic sphere. But this insignia, which has been developed through his creative endeavour – does it pave his way for his long creative journey or does it prove to be an impediment for his further progress? Needless to say, this creative yield confers an artist with a distinct recognition and here the recognition Atin receives provides him with an aura. His work, his penchant for print making, his passion for tempera- where do they all lead him to? That is what our exhibition aims to search for. In his series of paintings, Atin admits his intimate association with urbanity. Yet here also the mystery of nature makes its presence felt as always. His bird no longer flies, rather it remains perched on this very urbanity. Here it appears to be quite full and voluminous, almost like a sculpture. With the utterence of these words it feels that as in the world of print making where imagery plays a prime role and roots delve deep inside, Atin tends to convey that all his imageries whatever they may be should remain embossed in this world alongwith their joie de vivre. His exhibition, ‘Tempera on etching’ contains this very essence of sculpture.
