The new painting exhibition “Just Katayun”, starting from December 28, 2020, at Devbhasha – the abode of books and art, will continue till January 11, 2021.
The name of the artist whose paintings are going to be displayed here is clear from the title of the exhibition. Katayun Saklat. The exhibition will showcase more than 60 of her canvases having oil paintings on paper.
This is an excellent piece of news as the city will get to view her creations after almost a decade. Katayun Saklat is an octogenarian who has spent most of her life showcasing and promoting works of other artists. We all know that Gallery Katayun, one of the oldest art galleries in the city, had become a nurturing ground for both amateur and veteran artists. But she had always kept her own works away from the limelight. During this period, she had not curated any exhibition of her paintings in her own gallery. This ability to hold back is an eternally revered and sacred fire. Now, the abode of Debovasha is about to get illuminated with the so far hidden aura of her art.
This winter, the city will get to experience the artist’s very own intrinsic creative language, courtesy a diverse realm of paintings.
