Laluprasad Shaw

It may be said that the tempera works created by Lalu Prasad Shaw are coequal to grace or elegance. His works from the Babu-Bibi series kindle such an abounding enchantment in the minds of his fascinated viewers. Even to the artist himself, his creative journey destined for beauty. And this exquisite beauty gets mingled with the ambience of good old Kolkata, that resonates with the tunes of old Bengali songs along with a hint of harp wit and a glimpse of subdued sexuality in physicality and gesture which is never pronounced. If this indicates one of his chosen routes, then from the outset the innumerable wonders emitted through his print making as a result of his profound perception, their geometric patterns and their inherent imageries of an earthly world in guise of abstract forms give birth to an illusory world. Since its inception, Debovasha keeps on receiving his affection and patronage. In 2017, he jointly inaugurated this abode of book and art along with Ganesh Haloi. A number of his important exhibitions took place in Debovasha. The abode feels proud to have published a book based on his interview and its English translation has also come into print in a new form.
